For The Love of Money ...

For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. (1 Timothy 6:10 KJV)

I believe the following article says it all. Take a look at how many times the man below mentions words like: sales, profit, market potential, etc. It is the theme of the article. Don't you know it Bible believers! Now of course, I have another verse for some of the other stuff he talks about and also the lies translators tell in and about their preverted translations:

And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not. (2 Peter 2:3 KJV)

New Bible Translations

Why do we need another Bible translation? Adding translations is the single most significant aid in achieving the critical goals and objectives of Christian retail.

Every Christian retailer has at least one of the following primary goals:

  • The ministry outreach of the gospel of Jesus Christ;

  • The edification and inspiration of Christian believers, and

  • A profitable enterprise selling Christian products

    Nothing does more to accomplish these objectives than a successful new Bible translation. First, it expresses the gospel in a new and different way People who haven't previously heard or understood the gospel may be convicted and receive the salvation. Second, a new translation can cause believers to read and study Scripture again. New translations may express concepts in a fresh way, inspiring or edifying readers anew with the gospel's powerful truth.

    Furthermore, new translations can bring new and repeat customers into your store. No other product has such enormous spin-off sales potential. A great book may sell a few thousand copies, reaching a few thousand people. A block-buster album will sell very well, but most likely for a short time. A Bible will sell for years and years. The market potential for complementary products, styles, and editions is huge. Book after book will be created using the translation as a reference as will study guides, commentaries dictionaries, parallels handbooks, and concordances. Music lyrics and gift plagues will quote the verses.

    I don't believe a publisher should create a new translation just to create a plethora of "stuff" to sell. But when a translation is developed by mission-minded, competent, biblical scholars, Christian booksellers should embrace and promote it with all the vigor and enthusiasm they can muster.

    Yes, as a Bible publisher I'm biased. But I believe history documents my case. Nothing has done more to reach people for Christ, edify the body, and generate sales for booksellers than the Bible.
