NOT King James Version (NKJV)

The New King James Version is not the Word of God!
The King James Bible Authorized Version of 1611 is!
Read on to find out why the NKJV is corrupt!

by Bro. Jody Adair
Jody <Sojourner@PureWords.org>

In this you will see that the New King James Version is NOT a King James Version at all as the title of this says. I will compare the New King James Version with some other versions and you will see that it reads as them, not the King James Version. You will also see major doctrine effected which contradicts what the translators say in the New King James Version preface:

"Furthermore, no established doctrine is called in question by any doubts about the correct reading in this or that text."

That is a lie that you will see later on in this page.

Some might say that some of it is nit-picky, but remember we are talking about the very words of God. God magnifies his words even higher than his own name:

"I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name." (Psalm 138:2 KJV)

Paul is "nit-picky" about one letter:

"Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ." (Galatians 3:16 KJV)

The Lord himself says, "For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled," (Matthew 5:18 KJV) "and the scripture cannot be broken." (John 10:35 KJV)

In another place he says, "Then understood they how that he bade them not beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees." (Matthew 16:12 KJV)

Of course Paul agrees, "Your glorying is not good. Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump?" (1 Corinthians 5:6 KJV)

It is written, "Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;" (1 Tim. 4:1 KJV)

Those are just a handful of the many warnings that we are given about man trying to corrupt the word of God. Of course this cannot be done, but only counterfeits can be made pretending to be God's Holy Word.

Below is a comparison of some verses in the KJV with the NKJV. There are a lot more, this is just a sampling. You might say that some of them are saying the same thing. We know that words can have different meanings, so keep that in mind. Some words can only be taken one way in the context, but others can be used to teach different things, as in, different doctrines. Beware of leaven like that!

Some of the verses that in fact are the same, I added just to show that the NKJV is not a KJV at all, but that they copy the other "new versions" which all come from corrupt manuscripts. Can a bad tree bear good fruit? After the NKJV you will see some other versions in parenthesis, i.e.: (ASV, NASV, NIV, NRSV). This means that the same or similar reading is in those versions as well. The readings can be found in other versions too, but just a few were added to show that the NKJV does not follow the same Greek texts as the KJV. The translators said in the preface of the NKJV that they did stay true to the KJV.

They did not do that; they lied again!

Genesis 1:21 (KJV) And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good.

Genesis 1:21 (NKJV) So God created great sea creatures and every living thing that moves, with which the waters abounded, according to their kind, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. (NIV, ASV)

Matthew 12:40 (KJV) For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

Matthew 12:40 (NKJV) "For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth." (NASV, NIV, NRSV)

Jesus knew what a whale was, after all, he created them!

Genesis 1:28 (KJV) And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

Genesis 1:28 (NKJV) Then God blessed them, and God said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth." (NIV)

The fact is, something was here before Adam, and Noah's flood! "Fill" is not "replenish." Something that is replenished was plenished before as in before the flood and before Genesis 1:28. This destroys the truth of something actually being on this planet before it was re-created!

Genesis 2:7 (KJV) And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

Genesis 2:7 (NKJV) And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being. (NIV)

My, my, some guilt in the soul, Mr. translators!

Genesis 2:13 (KJV) And the name of the second river is Gihon: the same is it that compasseth the whole land of Ethiopia.

Genesis 2:13 (NKJV) The name of the second river is Gihon; it is the one which goes around the whole land of Cush. (ASV, NIV)

I know where Ethiopia is, but where is Cush?

Genesis 3:5 (KJV) For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.

Genesis 3:5 (NKJV) "For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil." (ASV, NIV)

Seems like they are following their father (John 8:44) one of the key figures in the text here. Is it "gods" or "God?" This is not only a lie, but it messes up cross references including Psalm 82 which lets us know that the "gods" were here in the past, present and future of Genesis 3:5.

Genesis 22:8 (KJV) And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together.

Genesis 22:8 (NKJV) And Abraham said, "My son, God will provide for Himself the lamb for a burnt offering." So the two of them went together. (NIV)

Pure unadulterated blasphemy! Did God provide himself (The Lamb of God) on the cross for us or not?

Leviticus 25:44 (KJV) Both thy bondmen, and thy bondmaids, which thou shalt have, shall be of the heathen that are round about you; of them shall ye buy bondmen and bondmaids.

"Heathen" is changed to "nations" 143 times in the NKJV, 144 in the NIV, and 145 in the ASV. It stays as "heathen" 145 times in the KJV. Could the NKJV really be a NIV, or a NASV? It sure doesn't look like a KJV to me.

1 Kings. 10:28 (KJV) And Solomon had horses brought out of Egypt, and linen yarn: the king's merchants received the linen yarn at a price.

1 Kings. 10:28 (NKJV) Also Solomon had horses imported from Egypt and Keveh; the king's merchants bought them in Keveh at the current price. (No linen— ASV, NIV; NIV adds "Egypt and from Kue")

Psalm 116:3 (KJV) The sorrows of death compassed me, and the pains of hell gat hold upon me: I found trouble and sorrow.

Psalm 116:3 (NKJV) The pains of death surrounded me, And the pangs of Sheol laid hold of me; I found trouble and sorrow. (NIV = "anguish of the grave;" NWT = "distressing circumstances of Sheol")

Webster's says that a pang is, "A sudden, brief, sharp spasm, as of pain." The Bible says, "The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name. (Revelation 14:10-11) The Jehovah Witnesses (NWT) and the NKJV might try to tell us that there is no such place as hell and everlasting torment but the Bible says differently!

Ecclesiastes 12:11 (KJV) The words of the wise are as goads, and as nails fastened by the masters of assemblies, which are given from one shepherd.

Ecclesiastes 12:11 (NKJV) The words of the wise are like goads, and the words of scholars are like well-driven nails, given by one Shepherd.

"Let's slip this lie in here," saith scholarship! The "scholars" of today that translated the "new translations" would have you believe that we do not have God's words in one Book. Therefore, they will say that you have to rely on them to explain the Scriptures to you, that you have to know Hebrew and Greek you get a deeper and better understanding of the Scripture. That's hogwash! The truth of the matter is that God preserved his words for us in English in the King James Bible so, "That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works. (2 Tim. 3:17 KJV) Since when did God put a middle man in between us and him, that is , besides the man Jesus Christ—our only mediator! "But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you..." (1 John 2:27)

Matthew 2:6 (KJV) And thou Bethlehem, in the land of Juda, art not the least among the princes of Juda: for out of thee shall come a Governor, that shall rule my people Israel.

Matthew 2:6 (NKJV) But you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, Are not the least among the rulers of Judah; For out of you shall come a Ruler Who will shepherd My people Israel. (NASV, NIV, NRSV)

"Governor" was changed to "Ruler" in Matthew This messes up the cross reference back to Isaiah 9:6. "Shepherd" is incorrect here also. This verse has to do with Christ REIGNING in the Millennium here on earth from Jerusalem. In context he will be a Governor who will rule! A shepherd waters down the Lord's authority and deity making him always to be the meek and mild Jesus that was here before. Read Revelation 1:12-18!

Isaiah 22:20 And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will call my servant Eliakim the son of Hilkiah: 21 And I will clothe him with thy robe, and strengthen him with thy girdle, and I will commit thy government into his hand: and he shall be a father to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and to the house of Judah. 22 And the key of the house of David will I lay upon his shoulder; so he shall open, and none shall shut; and he shall shut, and none shall open. 23 And I will fasten him as a nail in a sure place; and he shall be for a glorious throne to his father's house.

Isaiah 22:20 (NKJV) Then it shall be in that day, That I will call My servant Eliakim the son of Hilkiah; 21 I will clothe him with your robe And strengthen him with your belt; I will commit your responsibility into his hand. He shall be a father to the inhabitants of Jerusalem And to the house of Judah. 22 The key of the house of David I will lay on his shoulder; So he shall open, and no one shall shut; And he shall shut, and no one shall open. 23 I will fasten him as a peg in a secure place, And he will become a glorious throne to his father's house. (NIV, very close.)

Destroyed almost beyond recognition. Notice that you lose "government" again here and the lose of "girdle" messes up another cross reference that you'll see later. Sure, you can still tell who the NKJV is referring to, but what about the babe in Christ. Know ye not that, "a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump!" It looks more like an NIV reading than a KJV!

Isaiah 11:3 (KJV) And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the LORD: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears:

Isaiah 11:3 (NKJV) His delight is in the fear of the Lord, And He shall not judge by the sight of His eyes, Nor decide by the hearing of His ears; (NASV, NIV, RSV)

"And shall make Him of quick understanding" s removed!

Isaiah 66:5 (KJV) Hear the word of the LORD, ye that tremble at his word; Your brethren that hated you, that cast you out for my name's sake, said, Let the LORD be glorified: but he shall appear to your joy, and they shall be ashamed.

Isaiah 66:5 (NKJV) Hear the word of the Lord, You who tremble at His word: "Your brethren who hated you, Who cast you out for My name's sake, said, 'Let the Lord be glorified, That we may see your joy.' But they shall be ashamed." (NASV, NIV, RSV)

"We may see your joy." What? Isn't the Lord going to appear? The KJV refers to our joy because of the Lord's appearing. The others refer to someone's joy because the Lord is glorified.

Things That Are Not the Same Are Different!

Daniel 3:25 (KJV) He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.

Daniel 3:25 (NKJV) "Look!" he answered, "I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire; and they are not hurt, and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God."

The New Scofield Study Bible reads, "a son of the gods," and they put that in the footnotes of the regular NKJV. Why is it in the footnotes? Where is there integrity? Aren't they sure?

Zechariah 11:17 (KJV) Woe to the idol shepherd that leaveth the flock! the sword shall be upon his arm, and upon his right eye: his arm shall be clean dried up, and his right eye shall be utterly darkened.

Zechariah 11:17 (NKJV) "Woe to the worthless shepherd, Who leaves the flock! A sword shall be against his arm And against his right eye; His arm shall completely wither, And his right eye shall be totally blinded." (ASV, NIV)

"Idol" or "worthless?" There are lots of worthless "shepherd(s)" around, but I only know of one "idol" shepherd. (See 2 Thess. 2:4; Revelation 14:11, 16:2 for instance.) This takes away the characteristics of the Antichrist! It could be any shepherd in the NKJV, but it is the Antichrist in the KJV and rightly so. (See also the context of Zechariah 11 so you can be sure it is in direct reference to the antichrist.)

Matthew 2:4 (KJV) And when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people together, he demanded of them where Christ should be born.

Matthew 2:4 (NKJV) And when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people together, he inquired of them where the Christ was to be born. (ASV, NASV, NIV, NRSV)

"Demanded" or "inquired?" Rather weak King wouldn't you say? Not hardly, Herod was ruthless!

Matthew 11:23 (KJV) And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted unto heaven, shalt be brought down to hell: for if the mighty works, which have been done in thee, had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day.

Matthew 11:23 (NKJV) "And you, Capernaum, who are exalted to heaven, will be brought down to Hades; for if the mighty works which were done in you had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day. (ASV, NASV, NIV, NRSV)

Are we trying to air condition hell, even turn the temperature down a wee bit? Or is just one of those places that your trying to keep all denominations and cults happy? (The same is the case in Matthew 16:18; Luke 10:15, 16:23; Revelation 1:18, 6:8, 20:13, and 20:14 in the ASV, NASV, NIV, NRSV.)

Matthew 18:26 (KJV) The servant therefore fell down, and worshipped him, saying, Lord, have patience with me, and I will pay thee all.

Matthew 18:26 (NKJV) "The servant therefore fell down before him, saying, 'Master, have patience with me, and I will pay you all.' (NASV, NIV, NRSV)

This attacks the Lord's deity by taking out "worshipped him."

The Word for Worship is in All Greek Manuscripts!

Matthew 20:20 (KJV) Then came to him the mother of Zebedee's children with her sons, worshipping him, and desiring a certain thing of him.

Matthew 20:20 (NKJV) Then the mother of Zebedee's sons came to Him with her sons, kneeling down and asking something from Him. (NASV, NIV, NRSV)

This is an attack on the Lord's Deity. "Kneeling down" is not "worshipping!"

Matthew 23:33 (KJV) Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell?

Matthew 23:33 (NKJV) "Serpents, brood of vipers! How can you escape the condemnation of hell? (ASV, NASV, NIV, NRSV changes it most the time in the following verses as a whole.):

Damnation is also changed to condemnation in Mark 12:40; John 5:29; and Romans 14:23. "Generation" is easy for me to understand, but "brood" doesn't make sense to me especially given Webster's definition! My main point here though is the NKJV does not line up with the KJV. It is plain to me what a "generation of vipers" is, especially in the context!

John 1:3 (KJV) All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

John 1:3 (NKJV) All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. (ASV, NIV, NRSV)

"By" and "through" are not always synonymous. You can get around Jesus being the creator if you say "through," but you cannot if you say "by." The context of John One is plainly the Lord Jesus Christ being God! This is another attack on his Deity which would suit the JWs just fine! (See also: Galatians 1:16; Ephesians 3:9)

John 4:24 (KJV) God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

John 4:24 (NKJV) "God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth." (NASV, NIV, NRSV)

Hogwash, fit for the dung pile! All kinds of heresies can be taught from, "God is Spirit," instead of, "A Spirit." "A Spirit" is plainly a being, but "Spirit" is substance! A Sunday School teacher told me that God was not a being, that he was not a man, that he was "Spirit." The article is in the Greek, but omitted in the "new versions."

Acts 4:13 (KJV) Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.

Acts 4:13 (NKJV) Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated and untrained men, they marveled. And they realized that they had been with Jesus. (NASV)

"Untrained?" They were with Jesus for three years, you can't tell me they were untrained!

Acts 4:27 (KJV) For of a truth against thy holy child Jesus, whom thou hast anointed, both Herod, and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles, and the people of Israel, were gathered together,

Acts 4:27 (NKJV) "For truly against Your holy Servant Jesus, whom You anointed, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles and the people of Israel, were gathered together (ASV The NASV, NIV, NRSV, -- doesn't even capitalize servant.)

This is another attack on the Lord's Deity. A few verses up, David is a servant also. Jesus was not a servant, in the same sense David, you or I are. He came to serve, yes, but there is a big difference between the Lord and us serving. I do not know of any holy children. It is correctly translated in the KJV.

Acts 8:9 (KJV) But there was a certain man, called Simon, which beforetime in the same city used sorcery, and bewitched the people of Samaria, giving out that himself was some great one:

Acts 8:9 (NKJV) But there was a certain man called Simon, who previously practiced sorcery in the city and astonished the people of Samaria, claiming that he was someone great, (NASV, NIV, NRSV, RSV)

I guess since they don't believe God can preserve his words in one Book like he said he would do, they don't believe someone can be "bewitched" either!

Acts 12:4 (KJV) And when he had apprehended him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to keep him; intending after Easter to bring him forth to the people.

Acts 12:4 (NKJV) So when he had arrested him, he put him in prison, and delivered [him to four squads of soldiers to keep him, intending to bring him before the people after Passover. (ASV, NASV, NIV, NRSV)

"Easter" is a good translation. It was a pagan holiday celebrated back then! Why change it?

Acts 17:22 (KJV) Then Paul stood in the midst of Mars' hill, and said, Ye men of Athens, I perceive that in all things ye are too superstitious.

Acts 17:22 (NKJV) Then Paul stood in the midst of the Areopagus and said, "Men of Athens, I perceive that in all things you are very religious; (ASV, NASV, NIV, NRSV)

Oh well! So much for words of God.

Romans 1:25 (KJV) Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.

Romans 1:25 (NKJV) who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshipped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. (ASV, NASV, NIV, NRSV)

They did in fact "changed" the Holy words of God. You might "exchange" your NKJV for a KJV which would be great, but you do not change "the truth of God into a lie" unless you be found a liar (Prov. 30:5-6 KJV)! The warnings are clear in the law, (Deuteronomy 4:2 KJV) in the Psalm (Prov. 30:5-6 KJV) and in the NT (Revelation 22:18-19 KJV)! Man is not authorized by God to change his word. If God decides a revision is necessary then he will call out the ones to do that. Obviously he has not done that. God will mess up anyone who tries!

Romans 4:25 (KJV) Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.

Romans 4:25 (NKJV) who was delivered up because of our offenses, and was raised because of our justification. (NASV)

No way was he raised "because" of our "justification!"

1 Corinthians 1:22 (KJV) For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom:

1 Corinthians 1:22 (NKJV) For Jews request a sign, and Greeks seek after wisdom; (ASV, NASV, NIV, NRSV)

They "require" signs according to the teachings of the Bible. The Jews "REQUIRE" a sign and, "we walk by faith, not by sight." The Lord gave Israel their first signs back there in Exodus 4:8 and the signs and wonders in the NT that they required and that they will get again when this dispensation is over during the great tribulation!

2 Corinthians 2:17 (KJV) For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ.

2 Corinthians 2:17 (NKJV) For we are not, as so many, peddling the word of God; but as of sincerity, but as from God, we speak in the sight of God in Christ. (NASV, NIV, NRSV, RSV)

I find this funny. They do "corrupt the word of God" as many and they do peddle it too! "And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not." (2 Peter 2:3 KJV)

2 Corinthians 5:17 (KJV) Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

2 Corinthians 5:17 (NKJV) Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. (NIV, NRSV)

"Creature" or "creation?" I was witnessing to a homosexual once and it told me, "I am a new creation in Christ, God made me like this so it's OK for me to be gay as long as I'm in love!"

2 Corinthians 10:5 (KJV) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

2 Corinthians 10:5 (NKJV) casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, (ASV, NASV, NIV, NRSV, RSV)

I guess if you live by the corrupt texts you can imagine anything you want as long as it doesn't exalt itself above Christ. Again, the NKJV does not agree with the KJV, but with other corrupt texts taken from corrupt manuscripts.

Galatians 2:20 (KJV) I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

Galatians 2:20 (NKJV) "I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. (ASV, NASB, NIV, NRSV)

"Have been?" Aren't you any longer? What did you do, lose your salvation? This effects the doctrine of eternal security. I guess it makes all those that think they can lose their salvation happy like the Mormons, JWs, Catholics, Charismatics, etc.

Galatians 5:4 (KJV) Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.

Galatians 5:4 (NKJV) You have become estranged from Christ, you who attempt to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace. (ASV, NASV, NIV, NRSV)

This is wrong!!! "No effect" is not "estranged." Read the context of Galatians 5:1ff (KJV). You will see that it is talking about an unsaved man. This once again effects the truth of our eternal security in the Lord Jesus Christ!

Philippians 3:8 (KJV) Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,

Philippians 3:8 (NKJV) Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ (ASV, NASV, NIV, NRSV)

I can stand a little rubbish around me, but dung! How about you?

Colossians. 3:2 (KJV) Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.

Colossians. 3:2 (NKJV) Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. (ASV, NASV, NIV, NRSV, RSV)

Hardly the same! We are to love the Lord's appearing and his heavenly ways, and our heavenly home. We are to set our affection on such things which would include our minds, not just our minds!

1 Thess. 5:22 (KJV) Abstain from all appearance of evil.

1 Thess. 5:22 (NKJV) Abstain from every form of evil. (ASV, NASV, NIV, NRSV, RSV)

My, my, allows you Bible corrupters and readers of the corrupt texts to get a little closer to your sin doesn't it? Kind of like it is OK to walk that gray fence, or watch that TV program that has just a little bit of sinful stuff for your eyes to behold! Or if it even appears to be evil to you, but your not sure—the Book says to ABSTAIN from ALL APPEARANCE OF EVIL—period!

1 Tim. 6:5 (KJV) Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself.

1 Tim. 6:5 (NKJV) useless wranglings of men of corrupt minds and destitute of the truth, who suppose that godliness is a means of gain. From such withdraw yourself. (ASV, NASV, NIV, NRSV)

Let's teach that if you have godliness you will get rich! Why not, Kenneth Hagin, a Charismatic, teaches material prosperity for the Christian who lives a godly life!

1 Tim. 6:10 (KJV) For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

1 Tim. 6:10 (NKJV) For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. (ASV, NASV, NIV, NRSV)

"All kinds of evil?" WHAT??? It's, "For the love of money is the root of ALL evil." Guess what, "And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you." (2 Peter 2:3) "For the love of money..." Have you seen enough "feigned words in this so far to say, "God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged." (Romans 3:4 KJV)

1 Tim. 6:20 (KJV) O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called:

1 Tim. 6:20 (NKJV) O Timothy! Guard what was committed to your trust, avoiding the profane and idle babblings and contradictions of what is falsely called knowledge-- (ASV, NASV, NIV, NRSV)

Guess this would keep the scientist happy. And the ones who practice the Science of Textual Criticism!

2 Tim. 2:15 (KJV) Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

2 Tim. 2:15 (NKJV) Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. (ASV, NASV, NIV, RSV, NRSV)

They destroyed one of my favorites into something that doesn't even make sense. I have to study in order to rightly divide the word of truth. How can you diligently rightly divide the word of truth unless you study. That is the only verse in the Bible that tells you to study. The NASV reads the same.

Titus 3:10 (KJV) A man that is an heretick after the first and second admonition reject;

Titus 3:10 (NKJV) Reject a divisive man after the first and second admonition, (ASV, NASV, NIV, NRSV)

An heretick believes false doctrine, but does not necessarily teach it and cause division. It is Scriptural to expose wickedness and hereticks. If this causes division then so be it!

James 5:16 (KJV) Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

James 5:16 (NKJV) Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. (ASV, NASV, NIV, NRSV)

This keeps the Pope, even the most hellish father, happy. I confess my "trespasses" to God. (1 John 1:9) "There is one mediator..."

Jude 1:15 (KJV) To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him.

Jude 1:15 (NKJV) "to execute judgment on all, to convict all who are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have committed in an ungodly way, and of all the harsh things which ungodly sinners have spoken against Him." (ASV, NASV, NIV, NRSV)

"Things" or "speeches?"

Revelation 1:13 (KJV) And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle.

Revelation 1:13 (NKJV) and in the midst of the seven lampstands One like the Son of Man, clothed with a garment down to the feet and girded about the chest with a golden band. (NIV, NRSV)

Check out the destruction they did on the cross reference verses AGAIN with the verses given in Isaiah 22:20 (KJV) and Revelation (KJV). There are lots and lots of cross reference verses destroyed that the holy Spirit put in there so you could compare Scripture with Scripture like we are commanded to do. (John 6:63; 1 Corinthians 2:13 KJV) I wonder how many are destroyed that we haven't even seen, or that is revelation that the Lord hasn't shown us yet!

As you can see, the so-called New King James Version is NOT a King James version at all. It is just another counterfeit of the Holy Bible! It takes away 20,066 words that are in the King James Bible and changes more than 100,000 words. It is just another all denominational counterfeit of the word of God. It is not to be taken seriously at all, but instead just added to the pile of trash that all other "new versions" should be. It, like the others, are from the synagogue of Satan and not of God!

Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you. (Deuteronomy 4:2 KJV)
Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him. Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar. (Prov. 30:5 KJV)
For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book. (Revelation 22:18 KJV)

The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever. (Psalm 12:6 KJV)

Wherefore, sirs, be of good cheer: for I believe God, that it shall be even as it was told me. (Acts 27:25 KJV)

The following about the NKJV is from a Manuscript Evidence Class on the internet given by:

Dr. Thomas Holland logos1611@aol.com

"Dr. Holland, Could you please supply me with some information and verses about the New King James Versions?"

During the course of these lessons I have received several questions from students, as the one listed above, concerning the NKJV. It would seem appropriate to make comments about that translation at this time.

In 1979 the NKJV was released in the New Testament by Thomas Nelson Publishers. The whole Bible was published in 1982. Its goal was unique from other modern versions in that the NT was translated from the Textus Receptus, instead of the Critical Text as most modern versions are. Thus, many of the verses which have been omitted from modern versions can be found in the NKJV. Therefore, many who reject modern translations and favor the TR find the NKJV an acceptable modern version of the Bible.

When first published, the translators claimed the NKJV was the fifth revision of the KJV of 1611. Even the name, New King James, shows an association with the Authorized Version. However, as we have seen in this lesson, the revisions of the KJV which predate the NKJV were proper revisions which did not change the text. This cannot be said of the NKJV. In fact, it is not a revision at all. Instead, it is a new translation of the OT Masoretic Hebrew Text and the NT Traditional Greek Text based on the findings of modern linguistical scholarship from a conservative theological basis. A few differences between the NKJV and its predecessor are listed below.

Son or Servant:

"The God of Abraham, and of Isaac, and of Jacob, the God of our fathers,

hath glorified his Son Jesus; . . ." (Acts 3:13 KJV)

"The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of our fathers, glorified His Servant Jesus, . . ." (NKJV. Also in Acts 3:26; 4:27; and 4:30)

Deity Changed:

"And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; . ." (Revelation 1:6 KJV)

"and has made us kings and priests to His God and Father, . . ." (NKJV)

God or Rock:

"Art thou not from everlasting, O LORD my God, mine Holy One? we shall not die. O LORD, thou hast ordained them for judgment; and, O mighty God, thou hast established them for correction." (Habakkuk 1:12 KJV)

"Are You not from everlasting, O LORD my God, my Holy One? We shall not die. O LORD, You have appointed them for judgment; O Rock, You have marked them for correction." (NKJV)

Godhead or Divine Nature:

"Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, . . ." (Acts 17:29 KJV)

"Therefore, since we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Divine Nature is like gold or silver or stone, . . .(NKJV. However in Romans 1:20 and Colossians 2:9 the NKJV switches back to Godhead)

Comforter or Helper:

"And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;" (John 14:16 KJV)

"And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever," (NKJV. Also in John 14:26; 15:26; and 16:7)

Corrupt or Peddle:

"For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God: . . ." (2 Corinthians 2:17 KJV)

"For we are not, as so many, peddling the word of God; . . ." (NKJV)

Satan or Accuser:

"Set thou a wicked man over him: and let Satan stand at his right hand." (Psalm 109:6 KJV)

"Set a wicked man over him, And let an accuser stand at his right hand." (NKJV)

Saved or Being Saved:

"For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God." (1 Corinthians 1:18 KJV)

"For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God." (NKJV. Also in 2 Corinthians 2:15)

Jesus or He:

"And it came to pass, that, as Jesus sat at meat in his house, . . ." (Mark 2:15 KJV)

"Now it happened, as He was dining in Levi's house, . . ." (NKJV)

The NKJV is suppose to be easier to read than the KJV. Of the following verses, which do you find harder?

Numb. 21:14:

"Wherefore it is said in the book of the wars of the LORD, What he did in the Red sea, and in the brooks of Arnon," (KJV)

"Therefore it is said in the Book of the Wars of the LORD: Waheb in Suphah, The brooks of the Arnon." (NKJV)

Acts 17:22:

"Then Paul stood in the midst of Mars' hill, and said, Ye men of Athens, I perceive that in all things ye are too superstitious." (KJV)

"And Paul stood in the midst of the Areopagus and said, Men of Athens, I perceive that in all things you are very religious;" (NKJV)

Matthew 27:27:

"Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus into the common hall, and gathered unto him the whole band of soldiers." (KJV)

"Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus into the Praetorium and gathered the whole garrison around Him." (NKJV)

Matthew 20:2

"And when he had agreed with the labourers for a penny a day, he sent them into his vineyard." (KJV)

"Now when he had agreed with the laborers for a denarius a day, he sent them into his vineyard." (NKJV)

1 Kings 10:28

"And Solomon had horses brought out of Egypt, and linen yarn: the king's merchants received the linen yarn at a price." (KJV)

"And Solomon had horses imported from Egypt and Keveh; the king's merchants bought them in Keveh at the current price." (NKJV)

Psalm 43:1

"Judge me, O God, and plead my cause against an ungodly nation: O deliver me from the deceitful and unjust man." (KJV)

"Vindicate me, O God, And plead my cause against an ungodly nation: Oh, deliver me from the deceitful and unjust man!" (NKJV)

Acts 27:17

"Which when they had taken up, they used helps, undergirding the ship; and, fearing lest they should fall into the quicksands, strake sail, and so were driven." (KJV)

"When they had taken it on board, they used cables to undergird the ship; and fearing lest they should run aground on the Syrtis Sands, they struck sail and so were driven." (NKJV)

These are only a few examples of the differences between the KJV and NKJV. It should become clear that the NKJV is not truly the fifth revision of the Authorized Version, but is a re-translation of the texts.

Yours in Christ Jesus,
Thomas Holland
Psalm 118:8

In closing, the bottom line of all this is the New King James Version is not a King James Bible at all. The New King James Version is not the true words of God, but is yet just one more counterfeit. The New King James Version is just another example of man trying to make himself the final authority over God's authority. The New King James Version is basically the same as the NIV, ASV, NASV, etc. taken from the same corrupt Alexandrian manuscripts. The New King James Version is a fake, highly deceptive, and should be avoided at all costs.
