Truth or Perversion? Are all the words in your Bible???

The purpose of this pamphlet is to inform the Lord's people of Satan's attack upon God's Word. Many Christians seem to be unaware that the devil uses not only those things which are obviously ungodly, but also seemingly godly institutions. Yes, the Wicked One has ministers, false apostles and he himself appears as an "angel of light." (2 Corinthians 11). The corruption of the Pharisees and Sadducees is an exact pattern of the corruption which Satan has produced in many modern religious environments. "Christian" universities, seminaries and churches have been attacked by evil influences and, unfortunately, many have succumbed to the devil subtleties. Not only the "doctrine of the Pharisees and Sadducees" was corrupt (Matthew 16:6-12), their very treatment of the Word of God was polluted. "Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do. And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition." (Mark 7:7-9).

Where modern translations disagree with the examples given in this tract they have followed a corrupt Greek text. Unfortunately, there are many manuscripts with these perversions. Basically, there are only two different lines of Greek manuscripts: those which follow the pure text which God gave, and those which follow Satan's corruptions of the Scriptures.

"For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ." (2 Corinthians 2:17). The Bible shows that Satan was already busy perverting the Word of God, before the New Testament was even completed. The foot notes in many editions, whether a verse is found "in the oldest and best manuscripts..." are therefore no guarantee for accuracy. These facts have been twisted by "science falsely so called" (1 Tim. 6:20) and have been well hidden by the testimony of so-called "good, godly men." "Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the Lord" (Amos 8:11). The words of the Lord are rejected for modern perversions and satanic imitations.

Acts 6:1-10 "... Then the twelve called the multitude of the disciples unto them, and said, ... brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom ... And ... they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Ghost, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolas a proselyte of Antioch: ... and when they had prayed, they laid their hands on them. And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; ... And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and miracles among the people. - Then there arose certain of the synagogue, which is called the synagogue of the Libertines, and Cyrenians, and Alexandrians, and of them of Cilicia and of Asia, disputing with Stephen. And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the spirit by which he spake."

The first deacons are chosen. They are "men full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom" and are connected with "Antioch." They are resisted by ungodly men from "Alexandria," Egypt. In the Bible Egypt is a type of the world, worldliness and slavery of God's people.

Acts 11:19-26 "Now they which were scattered abroad ... travelled as far as ... Antioch, preaching the word to none but unto the Jews only. And some of them ... were come to Antioch, spake unto the Grecians, preaching the Lord Jesus. And the hand of the Lord was with them: and a great number believed, and turned unto the Lord. Then tidings of these things came unto the ears of the church which was in Jerusalem: and they sent forth Barnabas, that he should go as far as Antioch. Who ... exhorted them all, that with purpose of heart they would cleave unto the Lord. For he was a good man, and full of the Holy Ghost and of faith: and much people was added unto the Lord. Then departed Barnabas to Tarsus, for to seek Saul: And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch."

The persecuted disciples were scattered abroad and many of them went to Antioch. For the first time the gospel was preached to the Grecians (The Bible texts in question are Greek!), and much people "was added unto the Lord." Barnabas was sent to Antioch and later found the Apostle Paul (Saul) and brought him to Antioch. Under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, Paul wrote much of the New Testament. Since he taught in Antioch for more than a year, there certainly were many copies of the Scriptures available to them. The great number of Antiochian manuscripts testifies to this fact. Concerning the zeal of these Greek Christians, the text says, "the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch."

Acts 13:1-3 "Now there were in the church that was at Antioch certain prophets and teachers; as Barnabas, and Simeon that was called Niger, and Lucius of Cyrene, and Manaen ..., and Saul. As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them. And when they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away."

This is an impressive list of the spiritual credentials of the church in Antioch. The Holy Spirit is working mightily, by calling the first missionaries out of this church. Apostles and prophets were there, as well as teachers.

As mentioned above, there are two lines of manuscripts: one from Alexandria in Egypt, the other one from Antioch. Why should a Bible believing Christian go to Egypt to look for God's pure Word?!

The culprits in this Bible corrupting business were knowingly or unknowingly the pawns of Satan himself. A Greek school for pagan philosophy in Alexandria, Egypt, is responsible for the perversions now incorporated into the modern translations. In the 2nd century B.C. this school was founded by the philosopher Pantaenus founded this school - a pagan institution! The third head of this school was a man named Origen. Today Origen is revered by those professing Christians who love "higher textual criticism." The three most corrupt manuscripts are influenced by this school. They are "Alexandrinus" (A), "Sinaiticus" (Aleph, from Sinai) and "Vaticanus" (B).

When the New Testament took the world by storm, these "lovers of wisdom" [philo-sophy] could not resist the desire to be authorities on this new text. They obtained a copy and omitted those things which were not palatable to them. The fundamental doctrines of the Bible were attacked, such as the deity of Jesus Christ, His virgin birth and His blood atonement.

These texts and their adherents are commonly called the "Alexandrian Cult" by Bible believers. The faithful Greek text, which has been used by the majority of believers through the centuries, has several names: Antiochian Text, Received Text, Textus Receptus, Majority Text. Translations will refer to the Alexandrian manuscripts often as the "oldest and best." This can only be done counting on the lack of information the average reader will have concerning the matter. Even seminary graduates are often fed only the material which shows their professor's prejudice or ignorance. The Textus Receptus was used by simple people and was written on papyrus, which fell apart easily, while the Alexandrian text was written on vellum (animal skins) and therefore was very durable. How well manuscripts have been preserved says nothing about the contents or God's blessing on their text.

The following comparison should be very enlightening: in Mark alone, B and Aleph disagree 652 times, B and D disagree 1,944 times. In all four gospels B and Aleph differ 3,000 times! A, B, Aleph and C are different in 13,281 places - so much for the accuracy of the Alexandrian family of manuscripts!

When comparing the Alexandrian texts with the Antiochian text family, we find that B and the Textus Receptus disagree 7,578 times; between Aleph and Textus Receptus there are 8.972 differences.

While the Alexandrian manuscripts differ monumentally, the Textus Receptus shows amazing agreement. In a compilation of approximately 5000 fragments, papyri, etc., Stephanus, Beza, Elziver and Berry differ only 252 times in all 27 books of the New Testament!

Ecclectic texts, e.g. Nestle's "Novum Testamentum Graece," complicate matters further. They are a combination of all available manuscripts and contain those readings which the editor favours the most. A sad example is COLOSSIANS 1:14. While the 25th edition of Nestle's text still contains the Greek word for "blood," it has been omitted in the 26th edition. Are we to assume that God changes His Word in accordance to Nestle's revisions?

When biblical credentials, church history and textual integrity are considered, the answer to "Which Bible?" becomes simple: the King James Bible, the Authorized Version of 1611 is God's preserved Word!
